In Beaver County, preliminary hearings in criminal cases involving felony and misdemeanor charges are not conducted in the individual district justice offices, but at the Beaver County Courthouse as part of the Central Court system.

Beaver County Central court system is divided into Motions Court, Central Court, Civil Court, Criminal Court, Family Court, Juvenile Court, and Orphan’s Court.
There are nine magisterial districts located throughout Beaver County. A District Justice who has been elected to a six-year term serves each district. Each of the nine district justices presides for a week at a time on a rotating basis. The district justices are also assigned to a rotating schedule of night and weekend duty in order to comply with the Pennsylvania Rules of Court which require that at least one district justice be available at all times after the regular business hours of the court.
